Esko sweeps round robin The weather broke long enough on April 25 for the Esko, South Ridge and Barnum baseball teams to play a three-game round robin at Wade Stadium in Duluth. Barnum came in at 1-0 after a 6-2 win over ML/WR a week earlier, but fell hard, 27-0, to an impressive Esko team. All three sons of Albert Beseman served during World War II in the early 1940s, said their nephew Clarence Badger, sharing photos of the three Wright-area men after the war. A fire Friday afternoon left a downtown Carlton apartment building left a number of families without a home. The 911 call came in at roughly 3:41 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28, reporting a structure fire at 218 Chestnut Ave. The caller reported an electrical fire and that smoke was coming from the second story of the multi-family apartment complex. Moviegoers get a treat Saturday, Sept. 3, when Premiere Theaters in Cloquet will offer tickets to all movies, all day for $3. This week, we're happy to share more of what the Pine Knot News has learned about the 5,000-pound millstone pulled by the city of Cloquet from resident Bill Stolberg's yard. The millstone was used at the paper mill in pulp manufacturing. A 43-year-old Fond du Lac Reservation man who threatened to kill family members was arrested Sunday, July 31, following a three-hour standoff with law enforcement. James Warren Bosto was subsequently charged in District Court in Duluth on Monday, Aug. 1. He faces a felony charge of threats of violence, punishable by up to five years in prison and a $10,000 fine. A native of Northglenn, Colorado, Brodie comes to Cloquet after spending the last six seasons working with AAA programs in Wenatchee, Washington. On a hot July summer day, 64 players gathered for the third annual Gary "Moose" Pastika memorial golf fundraiser at the Cloquet Country Club.
