A house and garage in Thomson Township were destroyed in a fire Sunday morning. According to a Carlton County Sheriff's Office press release, fire crews were called to 21 Ridge Road north of Esko at about 2 a.m. Esko Fire Department members were first on the scene and found a garage fully engulfed in flames. On Monday, Dec. 27, 2021, John David Clawson, loving husband and father of five children, passed from this earth into the arms of Jesus at age 87. John was born on Aug. 28, 1934 to Ray and Daisy (Shroyer) Clawson.
