On Monday, Dec. 27, 2021, John David Clawson, loving husband and father of five children, passed from this earth into the arms of Jesus at age 87. John was born on Aug. 28, 1934 to Ray and Daisy (Shroyer) Clawson. A jury trial is underway at the Carlton County Courthouse for a Scanlon man accused of criminal sexual conduct “with heinous elements” and kidnapping. Dennis Michael St. John Jr., 55, was arrested in July 2020, after being accused of holding a woman against her will and raping her repeatedly, forcing drugs on her and threatening to kill her. Since the end of last year, Carlton County has recorded 246 new Covid-19 cases and two deaths. The cumulative numbers since the start of the pandemic as of Wednesday are 6,361 cases and 82 deaths, according to the Minnesota Department of Health.
