Burton J. Shotley, 90, of Cloquet, passed away Feb. 1, 2022, at Evergreen Knoll. He was born Sept. 9, 1931, in Cloquet, the son of Peter and Josephine (Jesse) Shotley. Beatrice Ann Lucille Heikkila, 90, of Cromwell, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Feb. 5, 2022, in her apartment at Cardinal Courts with family by her side. She was born on July 31, 1931, in Gackle, North Dakota to Amos and Julia Haro. Beatrice was married to Jonas Heikkila on Aug. 6, 1949, and they lived their lives together in Cromwell on Heikkila Lake. Minnesota Wilderness forward Max Neill captured the NAHL’s award for top forward for the month of January. The Cloquet-Esko-Carlton boys hockey team held a three-goal lead on Monday night against Duluth East, but were unable to hang on as the Greyhounds scored in overtime to notch a 4-3 win at Northwoods Credit Union Arena. A massive multi-state drug investigation ended last month with arrest warrants issued for 21 people, including three people from Cloquet.
