  • The Jug stays in Carlton for boys

    Kerry Rodd|Jan 17, 2020

Things had to feel a bit different in Tuesday's tilt for the Little Brown Jug in Carlton. The Bulldogs hosted the Wrenshall Wrens for the annual "battle for the jug," but this was the first year the teams played each other for the jug after having competed on the football field in the fall together as a cooperative team. In the end the Bulldogs won 53-33 and held onto the jug for another year. "I think it did feel different for the kids and for the coaches," said Wrenshall coach Jon Bartczak....

  • Carlton news

    Leola Rodd|Jan 17, 2020

I hope everyone is beginning the new year with family and friends, and a positive look to the future. Is cabin fever setting in? Well, the city of Carlton has the answer with its Winterfest Celebration, set for Saturday, Feb. 8. The Winterfest idea was started about 25 years ago to help with the winter blues. In the past there was volleyball and softball in the snow, a fishing contest at Chub Lake, and the Cloquet Rotary organized golfing on the lake. For a couple of years a group brought sled...
