Our sympathies to the family of Judith (Anderson) Miller, who passed away peacefully on March 30, 2024, in Cromwell. She was 104 years old. Judy was well-known for her mastery of the organ and piano. Music was an important part of her life. She became the organist for First Lutheran Church in Meadowlands at age 14 in 1934, and continued playing for 74 years. Members of the Carlton VFW Post 2962 voted to donate $1,000 to the Salvation Army food shelf in Cloquet, knowing that the free food service helps community members and veterans. Salvation Army social services coordinator Sue Butkiewicz said donations are needed. "Our numbers are pretty much doubling," she said. Cloquet Postmaster Todd Manisto retired April 3, 30 years and one day from his first day as a city carrier in the city of Cloquet. It's been a rewarding career, but increasingly busy as he climbed the ranks of the United States Postal Service. Manisto may not know what to do with himself at first. Olga M. Wenneson, age 84, of Cloquet, passed away Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at Diamond Willow. She was born November 28, 1939, in Bagley, Minnesota, the daughter of Oliver and Edith (Lietz) Swenson. The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources continues open burning restrictions of vegetative debris, as warm and dry weather spreads throughout the state, including Carlton, Pine, southern St. Louis and many other counties across the state.
