Nearly 40 student patrols from Winterquist Elementary School in Esko and Washington Elementary School in Cloquet got a big thank-you from local veterans organizations Monday for a job well done. The Cromwell Area Community Club’s roadside cleanup has been scheduled for 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, May 7. The cleanup covers a one-mile stretch of Minnesota Highway 210 west of Cromwell on both sides of the highway. This event is a wonderful way to clean up our area and is part of our efforts in the Adopt-A-Highway program. A light lunch will follow. Last weekend, the Wood City Quilters had a retreat at the Perch Lake town hall, where members worked on service projects for the community. They sewed pillowcases for area hospital pediatric units, nursing homes, assisted living centers, and treatment centers. Chemotherapy cushions were made for the oncology unit at St. Luke's.
