Gary E. Welton, 77, of Cloquet passed away Wednesday, April 19, 2023, in his home. He was born in Cloquet on Dec. 28, 1945, the son of James and Ida (Johnson) Welton. My cancer journey has started in earnest now. Last week, I had my first chemo treatment, and this week I get chemo and a PET scan. Lots to absorb in the brain and body as this journey continues. The Beach at Pinehurst Park will be expanding its hours this summer after taking a survey of users. Erin Bates, director of Cloquet Community Education, said the swimming facility in Cloquet will be open 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and noon to 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
