Eleanore Agnes Ehmann, 102, passed away peacefully May 7, 2024, at her home, surrounded by family. She was born on Aug. 14, 1921, in Cloquet to Alexander and Mabel (Brunette) Laveau. Eleanore moved to Cromwell at the age of 5, and graduated from Cromwell High School. The family then returned to Cloquet. Marjorie was preceded in death by her daughter, Debra Slatten; sister Joanne Douglas; and brothers, Bernard and James Seboe. George H. Olson, 89, of Mahtowa entered into eternal rest on May 7, 2024, in Duluth. He was born on Aug. 30, 1934, to Herbert and Jennie (Lahti) Olson in Mahtowa. George served in the U.S. Army from 1957 to 1959. He was married to Sarah Hopp on Jan. 31, 1958. He retired from Potlatch in 1996 after 36 years of service. Guy Eldon McFatridge, Mizhakii Giizhig, was born May 22, 1962, to John "Danny" and Elaine (DeFoe) McFatridge in Cloquet. He grew up in Cloquet and lived in South Dakota while attending Flandreau Indian School, graduating in 1980. Following graduation, Guy enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. Theodore E. "Ted" Micke, 91, of Cloquet passed away Friday, May 10, 2024, at his home. He was born Feb. 19, 1933, in Cloquet, the son of Theodore and Albena (Demers) Micke. Ted graduated from Our Lady of Sacred Heart School, Cloquet Sr. High School in 1951, and the University of Minnesota-Duluth in 1963. He served in the U.S. Army from February 1953 until January 1956. On a bright, sunshiny spring afternoon, my wife and I were assigned to pick up our grandkids after school from Churchill Elementary in Cloquet. The school is within walking distance of home. The Minnesota Wilderness North American Tier 3 Hockey League (NA3HL) team has added 11 players over the last few weeks to its roster for its first season under new ownership. The Wilderness made two selections in the NA3HL draft held April 24 and followed that with nine player tenders. The first player added to the franchise was Cloquet-Esko-Carlton forward Ryan Jones.
