It's been a minute, but Jay Shogren will be playing in Cloquet again this Saturday, more than 40 years after his last performance here. The Gitchi Gummi U19 boys soccer team won its division at the USA Cup Weekend July 9-11 in Blaine. There were five boys from Carlton County on the Gitch team, which defeated the Cloquet U19 boys team in the semifinals 1-0 to get to the championship. Dorothy Jean Mettner, 95, of Cloquet passed on to eternal life on July 14, 2021 at Barnes Care in Esko. She was born to Andrew and Olga (Siltanen) Raisanen on Oct. 29, 1925 in Cloquet. Dorothy was a loving sister to her brother Warren, and she had two other siblings, Arlene and Jimmy, who both passed away in infancy.
