    Indigenous artists are invited to submit proposals for a community mural that would highlight “community, Ojibwe artwork, language (Ojibwe and English), and walking and bicycling” to be located in the bandshell at Cloquet’s Pinehurst Park, according to a request for proposals issued by Carlton County Health and Human Services.     The annual Brickyard Days parade in Wrenshall took its time making its way down the main drag from the convenience store to the firehall, starting with all kinds of firetrucks and ending with three women on horseback, who stopped frequently to say hello to friends or visit children who wanted a closer look.   • Reed, French advance in Carlton County commissioner race

    Dan Reed and Alex French will advance to the General Election Nov. 5, as the two top vote getters in the District 5 Carlton County Commissioner's race. District 5 includes a swath of western Carlton County including Moose Lake, Kettle River, Cromwell and surrounding areas. Reed garnered 353 votes, or 37.5 percent, while French had 238 votes, or 25.3 percent. Incumbent commissioner Gary Peterson is not running again. Read more in this week's Pine Knot News....
