    After graduating six seniors from last year's team, the Cloquet-Esko-Carlton girls swim team is hoping to reload and have another successful season.     Of the 27 Carlton County 4-H members with demonstrations and exhibits at the Minnesota State Fair that began in August, 19 purple or blue ribbons were brought home by the time the fair ended on Labor Day. Purple is the top award, for entries deemed to have "met and far exceed the average standards established for that particular class. The exhibit or workmanship is outstanding with minimal flaws."     Bonnie Lee Norlander, 76, of Cloquet passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Sept. 6, 2024, at Diamond Willow in Cloquet. She was born July 17, 1948, to Harold and Clarice (Houvde) Hughes in Duluth. She attended school in Duluth and spent her childhood growing up as one of seven children. During her adulthood, she worked incredibly hard to raise her family and make sure they had what they needed. She worked for many years at Lake Haven Manor before retiring.     We celebrate the life of Larry Wayne Beckstrom. Larry passed away after a long, hard-fought battle with lung cancer. It was a life well-lived. Larry was born Oct. 8, 1941, in Duluth. He grew up in Cloquet and attended Cloquet High School, and graduated from University of Minnesota Duluth with a degree in education.
