    Robert Gerald "Rudy" "Ol' Man" Brown passed away in Houston, Texas on Oct. 17, 2022. He was born in Rochester, Minnesota to Corinne and Allen "Bud" Brown on March 26, 1951. He was a proud union glazier, retiring in 2012. In 1991, he moved from Duluth with his family to Houston, where helped build most of the hospitals in the Houston Medical Center.     Lloyd Daniel Rontti, 88, of Esko passed away Monday, Oct. 24, 2022, in his home. He was born on Sept. 13, 1934, in Atkinson, Minnesota. Lloyd served in the U.S. Army from 1958 to 1960. On July 29, 1961, he married Rose Carol Norman. Lloyd retired in 1992, after serving 31 years with the U.S. Postal Service. Lloyd was a do-it-yourself handyman.     Remember to turn your clocks back one hour this weekend, as daylight saving time ends in the wee hours of Sunday morning (2 a.m. to be precise). We'll get an extra hour of sleep, but it also means less daylight as we head into the winter months.     The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is restricting open burning due to increased wildfire risk from dry conditions across much of Minnesota. The long list of counties across the state includes Carlton, Pine, Aitkin and southern St. Louis counties. The DNR will not issue permits for open burning of brush or yard waste in these counties until the burning restrictions are lifted.     Former Congressional candidate and Fond du Lac Lake Superior of Ojibwe elder Ray "Skip" Sandman died Sunday, Oct. 30, at the age of 68. Sandman grew up on the Fond du Lac Reservation in the town of Brookston and attended AlBrook High School.
