Edith "Edie" Kumm, 91, of Wright passed away Saturday, Aug. 17, 2024, at Open Arms Senior Living in Duluth. Edie was born Feb. 28, 1933, in Wright to Joseph and Agnes Kirzy. She married Glenn Jesse Kumm on Jan. 12, 1952. They made their home in Wright, where they started their own dairy farm, logged the land and began their family. Carlton County's smallest city hosted its 59th annual Wrong Days in Wright festival this past weekend, drawing hundreds of residents and visitors to Wright. Saturday had a great turnout on a perfect hot summer day in July. This year's activities featured a parade, live music, food trucks, kids' races and bouncy houses, a car and tractor show, along with the annual mixed volleyball and softball tournaments. A weak tornado touched down in Beseman Township last Wednesday, June12. I was home at the time, and the rain came down in sheets, along with the high winds whipping the trees around in my yard. It wasn’t until the next morning that I realized several large trees came down on the north side of my driveway, blocking the road.
