    More than 60 vehicles drove in for the "Bring What You Got" car get-together at the Kalevala Cultural Center Sunday near Kettle River. "It was awesome," commented Sam Huhta, one of the event organizers. Car styles ranged from classic, rat, antique, unique, hot rods and dragsters, among others.     As of May 15, I have completed all my cancer treatments. The staff at the infusion center at St. Luke’s gave me an unexpected sendoff. They gave me a small lap quilt, a “St. Luke’s Survivor” hat pin, a certificate of completion, and sang “Happy Graduation to You.” Now my cancer journey is complete, barring any more health issues. This past year has gone by fast, but at the time I was getting chemo and radiation, it seemed like I would never be done. Again, my sincere thanks for all the prayers...

    Our sympathies to the family of Dale H. Borchardt, 78, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, who died April 16. He was born in Carlton and grew up on the family farm with his brother, and two sisters.     To honor and celebrate Earth Day, 28 hearty souls met on Saturday morning at the public water access on Eagle Lake in Cromwell for a roadside cleanup. The participants belong to Facebook group known as the Friends on Eagle Lake.     On April 13, Carlton County Animal Rescue was able to offer a microchip clinic and additional resources in Cloquet's Veterans Park. A pet microchip is roughly the size of a grain of rice which, for dogs and cats, is implanted underneath the animal's skin between the shoulder blades.     On Wednesday, April 10, some 27 Carlton Lions Club members and guests assembled 32 Solar Power Light kits to send to Ukraine. One light on a fully charged battery can run for 21 hours, if just using the night light they can run up to 11 days.
