    Anne Dugan|Jul 12, 2019

The Food Farm provides fields for local producer Christian Dahm’s bees to forage. His bright, multicolored boxes are located on the northwest corner of our farm and offer a cheery sight for folks coming and going on County Road 1. On Sunday, Dahm was out checking on his col...

  • As one might expect, temps are on the rise

    Dave Anderson|Jul 5, 2019

July is always an important anniversary for me. After being a janitor at Channel 3 for more than a year, the bosses there showed no sign of promoting me; so, on July 2, 1987 I started at Channel 6 on the technical crew. Man, I was tempted to quit after that first night because of the hectic pace. I didn’t think all that stress was worth $3.35 an hour. But, like a good Iron Range Finn, I stuck it out. My interest in becoming part of the news media goes back to the ’70s when my father lent me his...

The Carlton County Retired Educators have volunteered for many years at the Little Red School House and need more help this year, as many members have died, and many others can no longer help....

    Dan Reed|Jun 28, 2019

The question is not if there will be a new county jail, but what that new building would include, and how Carlton County would make the annual loan payments on such a massive mortgage. Voters are being asked to weigh in on the "how to pay" question in November, when the county will ask for approval of a new half-percent sales tax versus simply raising property taxes to make the annual bond payments.
