What a big weekend: The Red Bird craft sale was a big success, and I’m sure there were some successful hunters too. So many folks attend this craft sale, and there sure are a lot of talented crafters in our area. For those who were hunting, this annual event is so enjoyed by those that hunt and go out to their deer shacks for a few days or the whole season. I have never been a hunter, but do hunt with my camera from time to time.

Have you seen them? Known as woollybear caterpillars, they are the larval form of the Isabella tiger moth. It is common to see these woollybears now as they crawl over the roads. Why? Unlike most others, these young moths winter not in cocoons, but as caterpillars. This is a crucial time for them as they move about to locate food and shelter to spend winter. Perhaps it is the black furry and brown coat they wear or the fact that they are active before the coming cold that led to the myth of their forecasting weather. They just want to find a good place to winter, and now is the time we see them searching for a good place to do that.
