Cromwell-Wright News

The whole Cromwell-Wright community came together to support our football team at the U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis on Thursday, Nov. 15. Those who couldn’t or didn’t attend the game had their ears tuned to the radio for the play-by-play of the game. It was unfortunate that Spring Grove was able to score three or four touchdowns in the first quarter, but from then on our team really played their hearts out and stayed pretty even for the rest of the game, even scoring twice. Coach Gronner and all the coaches, staff and parents are so proud of our school making it back to the semifinals this year, and all this with only a small number of players compared to other teams they played. Our teams, including the volleyball and cross-country teams, sure made our fall one to remember!

Our sympathy to the family of Marlene Huhta Ruotsalainen, 85, of Hoyt Lakes. Marlene died Nov. 15, 2018 at Villa Vista/Cardinal Court in Cromwell. Her memorial service was scheduled for Nov. 21 at the Faith Lutheran Church in Hoyt Lakes with Pastor Brian Birk officiating.

The Cromwell YOT met for their annual Thanksgiving dinner at Minetties this past Tuesday. They had 26 folks in attendance and the food was not only delicious, but also very ample. Several folks even had to take leftovers home. It’s always good to get together with friends and this is a great way to do it. The special guest was newly-turned-50-year-old Mike Davis. The first time he attended YOT he was in his mother Judy’s arms as a baby. New folks are always welcome to attend YOT; the next gathering will be on Dec. 11 at the Cromwell Park Pavilion at noon for the potluck Christmas dinner.

We welcome Dolly Niemi and Irene Olson back home from recent hospitalizations.

There’s something new in Cromwell: The Cromwell Area Community Club is sponsoring the new “Little Free Library” located at the Cromwell Medical Clinic, thanks to the maker, Bryce Pinnow. You can see a photo of the Cardinal Book Nook posted on my Facebook page. So, if you have children’s or grownups’ books, please feel free to drop them off, or take some books. We want this to be well used, so all can enjoy this new addition to the clinic and to Cromwell area residents.

With the end of deer hunting for another year, here are a couple of jokes you may enjoy:

One Sunday a minister feigned illness so he could go deer hunting. That morning he shot a good-sized 14-point buck! Saint Peter looked down from heaven and said to God, “You aren’t going to let him bag a prize like that are you?” “Why not?” God replied. “Who’s he going to tell?”

Two deer hunters met in the woods. The first one said to the other, “Boy am I glad to see you, I’ve been lost for hours.” The second deer hunter said, “That’s nothing, I’ve been lost for a week.”

Which side of a deer has the most meat? The inside.
