It was a most perfect week for a holiday celebration.
A smattering of snow, temperatures not too cold, and a myriad of activities for all to enjoy.
And the people came.Cloquet Police Chief Jeff Palmer reported more than 400 people attended the free chili feed sponsored by the Cloquet and Fond du Lac police departments.
Palmer said holding such events fosters positive relationships between the police departments and the community.
"Far too often our interaction with people comes at a time when they're experiencing a crisis and events like this give us the opportunity to interact with our community in a positive and personal way," he said.
Queen of Peace was packed for photos with Santa and dinner Friday.
The Holiday Expo at Churchill Elementary School featured hundreds of crafters set up in nearly every nook and cranny of the school, while the Cloquet High School madrigals filled the air with Christmas carols and other holiday tunes.
Both Members Cooperative Credit Union and Cloquet Ford Chrysler were the place to be in the afternoon, and many families drove or rode the trolley between the two businesses to participate in all the fun.
When the sun went down, the fun ramped up. There were s'mores and hot chocolate at the fire station. Thousands lined Cloquet Avenue to watch the parade and the fireworks, followed by - what else? - a hockey game.
