Northwoods Credit Union donation keeps the ice cold in Carlton

Northwoods Credit Union donated $4,500 this week to help the Carlton Amateur Hockey Association fix a leak in the cooling system of their refrigerated rink at the Carlton Four Seasons. Earlier this fall, the refrigeration system began to fail at the facility. When the Carlton Area Hockey Association started putting in the ice, they located a leak in the brine system which circulates refrigerant throughout the floor. This leak led to other necessary repairs and delayed any ice rental for more than two weeks, resulting in a loss of income to the Arena.

Tory Cawcutt, president of the Carlton Amateur Hockey Association, reached out to Northwoods to see if they would be willing to help with repair costs.

“The hockey board has been proactive the last few years with preparing for setbacks like this, however these unexpected repairs have caused some heartache,” Cawcutt said. “The board requested assistance from Northwoods Credit Union.”

Northwoods Credit Union President Doug Wolf, immediately brought the request to the credit union’s Senior Management Team and together they quickly approved the donation. “Northwoods Credit Union is proud to support our area youth sports and it’s important to us to support our community,” said Wolf. “The Carlton Four Seasons is integral to many area community hockey programs and the building is also utilized by a wide variety of Carlton organizations. It’s a great facility and we’re proud to help out.”

Repairs have been completed and everything is running well.
