Wright-Cromwell News

Did you stay up late on Monday to observe the eclipse of the Super Blood Wolf Moon? As I looked out our porch door at 11 p.m. or so, it was overhead a bit to the southeast. We were so fortunate to have a clear sky for this very special celestial event. I'm sure my brother John will be posting some great photos on Facebook. I tried to take some, but my camera just doesn't do justice to the sighting.

Did you know that there was a primary election Tuesday, Jan. 22 in Senate District 11? We didn't get our mail-in ballots until Saturday, Jan. 19 at 3:30 p.m. Even if I voted immediately and got my ballot in the mail it would not have left our post office until Tuesday and never would have reached Carlton in time to be counted, so I had to drive it up. The general election is Feb. 5, another quick turnaround.

I leave you with a story to make you smile:

Hospital rules state that patients checking out must have a wheelchair. One day a newly graduated nurse assistant came into the room to find an elderly man fully dressed, sitting on the bedside chair, with a piece of packed luggage at his side, all ready to go.

When he was shown the wheelchair, he was adamant that he was fully capable of walking himself to the parking lot. But the assistant told him rules were rules, so he relented and let her wheel him out.

In the elevator, the assistant asked the elderly man if his wife was coming to meet him. "I don't think so," he replied. "It takes her awhile to change her clothes, so she's probably still upstairs in the bathroom taking off her hospital gown and getting dressed."

That's all the news from the Edge of Wright. Have a great week!
