A hometown newspaper with a local office, local owners & lots of local news
Four local Master Gardeners recently received awards for years of volunteer service. Roberta Leu, Richard Breitkruetz and Joan Arney have all given 15 years of horticulture volunteer service to Carlton County. Master Gardener Nan Lindquist started with the program in 1994 and has served for 25 years.
What is a Master Gardener volunteer?
Master Gardeners are from all walks of life and volunteer on behalf of the University of Minnesota Extension. They share gardening best practices with people in their communities to promote healthy foods and healthy lives. They complete a university-taught core course and contribute a certain amount of hours teaching research-based horticulture practices in their communities.
Projects that the Carlton County Master Gardeners are involved with include: plant sales, garden tours, community gardens, questions and answer booths, beautification projects, newspaper columns and gardening presentations.
Please call the Extension Office at 218-384-3511 if you are interested in becoming a member or to be added to the event list.
