One of Cloquet's most well-rounded athletes in many years has made her next move - from the many options on the table, Kendra Kelley has selected a college, and North Dakota State will be her home for the next four years.
"I chose NDSU for the great academics, coaches, teammates and program," said Kelley, who will run track in college. "The campus was beautiful and has a lot to offer, and I'll be very happy there."
She went on to say, "Looking back at my athletic career, I've realized how many life lessons and relationships I was able to build through sports. It feels crazy that my time at Cloquet is coming to an end, but I know I want to make this last season the best yet."
Indeed, next on her list of accomplishments is breaking through the 1000-point barrier in girls' basketball.
Kelley, who has seemingly been on varsity rosters forever, recounted her favorite memories of scoring her 100th career goal as a 7th-grade varsity soccer player, winning state as a 7th-grader in basketball, and winning the 200-meter dash in the 2018 state track and field meet.
The celebrated athlete will hold those memories close, after graduating this spring and moving forward with her athletic talents.
"Through high school sports, I've been able to become not only a better athlete, but a better person. I've learned a lot about hard work and perseverance, and although I'm saying goodbye to Cloquet athletics soon, I'll always carry the sports, coaches, and teammates with me through my next four years as a Division I athlete."
