A hometown newspaper with a local office, local owners & lots of local news
The Robert Rodd Memorial Scholarship fundraiser is Saturday, Feb. 23 at the Four Seasons Sports Complex in Carlton, Minn. Tickets are $10, which includes a Swedish meatball or turkey gravy dinner, admission to the costume hockey game, and entry for prize drawings.
There is no admission fee for the hockey game for children 12 and younger, and the cost of dinner for children age 5 and under is $4.
Dinner will be served 1-5 p.m., with a cash bar. Children’s activities include Chuck-A-Puck, Zamboni Bob coloring contest, and a shoot-out for kids age 12 and under. Kids of all ages can have their photo taken with the Zamboni between the game’s second and third periods (bring your cameras!), and Minnesota Wilderness players will sign autographs.
The hockey game starts at 2 p.m., and features area hockey alumni and local VIPs. The second period will be a “glow in the dark” affair played with a lighted puck, and in the third period all of the players will be wearing costumes.
Prize drawings, raffle ticket prizes and silent auction items include a handmade quilt with quilt rack, autographed jerseys including a Minnesota Wild autographed jersey, special prize baskets, gift certificates, City of Carlton package, cooler package, and much more. Raffle tickets for more prizes are available at area businesses.
All proceeds benefit the Robert Rodd Memorial Scholarship Fund. For more information or to purchase tickets, contact Leola Rodd, 218-310-6065 or Rhonda Broneak, 218-591-2038.
