Leone Harp, formerly of Wright, recently celebrated her 100th birthday with family in Mountain, Lake, Minn. Leone and her husband Vernon farmed north of Wright for 35 years before moving to Wright. After 20 years, they moved to Windom, Minn. to be close to family. Leone has been in the nursing home for two-and-a-half years. Vernon passed away at 96, his mother at 100, Leone’s mother at 98, and Leone has a sister who is 102. Is it the genes or preservation in the cold north? Cards can be sent to her at: Good Samaritan Society, 745 Bessinger Memorial Dr., Mountain Lake MN 56159.

The Bethlehem and Bethany Lutheran Parish voted at their recent annual meetings to go to a half-time pastor due to financial concerns at both churches. With that decision, Pastor Patrick McCormack tendered his letter of resignation as full-time pastor. Pastor Pat has been in our area for a little over four years and we thank him for his ministry to our area. Pastor Pat’s last worship service in our area will be a joint service at 10 a.m. at Bethany in Cromwell on March 3. Everyone is welcome to come bid him farewell and best wishes.
