Paul E. Koski, 93, of Chisago City, Minn., formerly of Esko, Minn. passed away peacefully Jan. 30, 2019.
Paul was a graduate of Cloquet High School, Class of 1943, and a World War II veteran, serving as a U.S. Navy Radioman on the USS Karnes in the Pacific Campaign.
Paul was a lifelong accountant with the Western Oil Company, as well as treasurer for the Cloquet Credit Union, the Esko School Board, St. Matthews Church, Golden Valley Lutheran Church, and various other community boards.
Paul was preceded in death by Helen, his loving wife of 71 years, who went to the Lord June 16, 2018; stepsisters Irja Oreskovich and Elsie Nordman; stepbrother George Klind; sister-in-law Milly Virgin; brother-in-law Tom McKeever; son-in-law Tom Mahaney; and nephews Guy Virgin and Curt Singpiel.
He is survived by their children Karen Wold, Mike (Gail), Connie, Kevin (Jenny), and Mark (Lisa); four grandchildren, Jonathan (Rachel), Daniel (Tanya), Kristen Unger (Ryan), and Matt Mahaney; eight great-grandchildren; siblings-in-law Don (Ardy) Pykkonen, Edna McKeever, Mavis (Dick) Singpiel, and Gary Virgin; and numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family.
Visitation: 1 p.m. until the 2 p.m. memorial service Sunday, Feb. 24 at Parmly on the Lake Chapel, 28210 Old Towne Road in Chisago City.
There will be a second memorial service Saturday, June 22, 2019, with visitation at 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. memorial service at St. Matthews Lutheran Church, 4 Elizabeth Ave. in Esko. Interment following at St. Matthews Lutheran Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated to Samaritan's Purse, Mission Aviation Fellowship of Canada, World Mission Prayer League, Alzheimer's Association or a charity of your choice.
The Koski family would like to extend a special thank-you to all of Paul's caregivers from the VA, Parmly, and Ecumen Hospice during his final years at Parmly on the Lake.
