William James Singpiel, 57, of Cloquet, Minn. lost his battle with early onset frontotemporal dementia Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2019 in New Perspective Assisted Living with his loving family and friends by his side.
He was born Oct. 11, 1961 in Cloquet to Wayne and Audrey (Hella) Singpiel. Bill graduated from Cloquet High School in 1980. He married Nancy Dummer on Aug. 18, 1984 and they made their home in Duluth. He received his bachelor's degree in physical therapy from the College of St. Scholastica in 1985. Bill worked at Essentia Health in Duluth as a physical therapist until he received his master's degree in health care administration in 1992 and worked his way up to director of clinic operations. In 1997 they moved to Cloquet, and in 2013 to the Twin Cities, before returning to Cloquet in 2018.
Bill was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church where he was active in church leadership, various committees, and Lutheran Via de Cristo. He enjoyed golfing, traveling to Montana to visit family, fishing, serving the Lord, and spending quality time with his family. He was a loving, compassionate and kind man, which was reflected in his service to others.
Bill was preceded in death by his father Wayne, and parents-in-law Stan and Gladys Dummer.
He is survived and will be sadly missed by his wife of 34 years, Nancy; daughter Jenna (Ian) Peterson of Hopkins; son Derek (Gretta) Singpiel of Cloquet; mother Audrey Singpiel of Cloquet; brother Robert Singpiel of Cloquet; and his first grandchild, due in October.
Visitation: 1-3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 24 in Atkins Northland Funeral Home, Cloquet. Visitation will continue at 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service Monday, Feb. 25 in Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Cloquet. A time of lunch and fellowship will follow. Burial will be in Greenhill Cemetery in Saint Peter on Tuesday.
Memorials preferred to Our Savior's Lutheran Church or Lutheran Via de Cristo of Minnesota.
