Community theaters and fans of theater from around the state will gather in Austin, Minn. for a statewide theater festival sponsored by the Minnesota Association of Community Theatres (MACT).
MACT*Fest 2019 will take place Friday through Sunday, March 15-17 at Riverland Community College. Austin’s Summerset Theatre and the Riverland College Foundation will host the festival, where audiences will enjoy a wide variety of one-act plays performed by theaters from across Minnesota, and have the opportunity to attend theater workshops.
At MACT, the County Seat Theater Company will be presenting “Sweet” by Denise Hinson. This show held its world premiere last year in Cloquet, and has now been edited down to a 60-minute production for the festival.
MACT is part of a state, regional, national and international association that celebrates the excellence of community theater. Winning theater companies will have an opportunity to advance to regional and national community theater competitions.
In addition to the County Seat Theater Company, the following theater companies are participating in the festival: Applause Community Theatre from Mendota Heights; Calumet Players from Pipestone; FungusAmongus Players from Dassel; Marshall Area Stage Company from Marshall, and The Ensemble Theatre Company from Apple Valley.
CST will present local performances of the revised production of “Sweet” March 28-31.
