Congratulations to our boys and girls basketball teams on great seasons.

Some of you may have known Barry LeVesseur from Hutchinson, Minn. He died Feb. 13. He will be missed by his wife Marjory; children Muriel and Mike; several grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Barry spent many years in the Wright-Tamarack area during hunting season and Marjory is sister to Darrell Johnson and the late Walter Johnson.
Our sympathy to the family of Jeff Rick, 54, who passed away Jan. 9. He was a 1983 Floodwood High School graduate. A memorial service was held for him March 9 at Bethany Lutheran in Cromwell with Mike Martin officiating.

Congratulations to Knowledge Bowl team members Marcus Pocernich, Everett Lind, Isaac Shelton and Drew Libbon for making the tournament. Good luck, boys.
Instead of giving up something for Lent this year, why not try the 40 days/40 items challenge? Each day of Lent, remove one item from your house, something you don’t use or wear anymore, and place it into a box or bag. At the end of Lent, donate these items to the Clothing Depot or other charity shop, or homeless shelter. They’ll be shared with those who really need them.
Lenten service schedule:
The next Lenten service and soup supper at Bethany is March 20.
St. John’s Lenten services will be at 5:30 p.m. with no Maundy Thursday service. The Good Friday service starts at 5:30 p.m. April 19, and Easter Sunday services at 10:30 a.m.
Why do we celebrate Easter when we do? The date of Easter changes because itr is always on the first Sunday after the first full moon, after the spring equinox or first day of spring. Got that?
The Clothing Depot in Cromwell is holding a coat and sweater giveaway March 16. Free are three sweaters and one coat, or four winter items. Store hours are from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

The first Young Old Timers dance is scheduled for 1-4 p.m. Thursday, March 28, with Jerry’s One Man Band. Note the date change from the cards that were handed out.

Here’s something to make you smile:
A young man called his mother and excitedly announced that he had just met the woman of his dreams. His mother said: “Why don’t you send her flowers and invite her to your apartment for a home-cooked meal?”
The day after the big date, his mother called to see how things had gone. “Mom, the evening was a complete disaster,” he replied. “It was horrible!”
“Why, didn’t she come over?” his mother asked.
“Yes, she came over. But she refused to cook.”
That’s all the news from the Edge of Wright. Have a great week.
