Jenny M. Benkoski

Jenny M. Benkoski, 96, of Moose Lake and formerly of Saginaw, died peacefully Monday, March 4, 2019, in Augustana Mercy Health Care Center in Moose Lake.

Jenny was born Aug. 1, 1922, in Duluth and lived most of her life in Saginaw where she attended school through the eighth grade. She later graduated from Brookston High School.

Her parents owned and operated a dairy farm named Hillendale Farm in Saginaw. Jenny and her brothers helped run the business and delivered milk to much of Duluth and Proctor. Jenny later worked at the Saginaw Store, which was owned and operated by Frank Benkoski. Jenny and Frank married on Feb. 14, 1965, in Deer River. They continued to successfully run the Saginaw Store, selling it in 1969 and returning to Jenny's farm to retire. In 1988, they sold the farm and moved to their Island Lake home near Moose Lake.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Maren; father, John; stepmother, Dagny; brothers Arne and Eyvind; sister Signe; and her husband Frank.

Jenny will be lovingly remembered by her nieces, nephew, and many friends.

Gathering of family and friends: 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. memorial service Saturday, March 16, at Hamlin-Hansen-Kosloski Funeral Home in Moose Lake. A lunch with fellowship will follow the service. Spring inurnment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in Cloquet.
