Our area communities were shocked and saddened to hear of the death of Darrel L. Johnson, 78, of Tamarack, on March 12, 2019 at his home. We offer our sympathy to his wife Katy, and especially to Marty and Linde as they say their final farewells to their loved one. Darrel’s funeral was held Monday at Bethany Lutheran Church in Cromwell.
Congratulations to our boys basketball team on winning Section 5A. They played in the quarterfinals of the state tournament on Thursday (after this was written), but I’m sure they will be playing again. Congratulations to Jane Heikkila who recently retired from cooking at the Villa Vista/Cardinal Court in Cromwell. She will be missed, and she was very much appreciated at this care facility.
Bill and Judy Haapoja, and maybe Diane, will be singing and performing at the Villa Vista on Monday, March 25 and again at the Lenten services at Bethlehem at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 27. Please feel free to attend both of these events.

Congratulations also to Ben Anderson, Jaeger Goranson, Drake Warner, Daniel Belden, Shaily Hakamaki, Andrea Pocernich and Katherine Libbon for receiving a Superior rating for their ensemble! We are proud of the work you do to develop and share your talents!

Community Yoga will be held 11 a.m.-12 p.m. Monday, March 25 at the Cromwell Pavilion.
Saturday, May 4 is the second annual Father Daughter Ball at the Cromwell Park Pavilion, sponsored by the Cromwell Area Community Club. Mark your calendar and watch for more.
The first YOT (Young Old timers) dance, with Jerry’s One Man Band, is scheduled for 1-4 p.m. March 28.
Cromwell-Wright Dollars for Scholars will be holding its sixth annual fundraiser dinner 1-4 p.m. Saturday, March 30 at the pavilion. Buy tickets at the school office or call Kay Smith at 218-591-2860. On the menu: boneless pork loin with all the trimmings. Suggested donation: Adult, $15; students 12 and under, $7. This fundraiser benefits the Cromwell-Wright Dollars for Scholars scholarship fund for our Cromwell-Wright graduating seniors.
Cromwell-Wright Archery: On Saturday, March 23, the school will host the second regional 3D archery tournament at the Cromwell-Wright School, and organizers are seeking vendors/crafters interested in showing their wares. Contact Kyle Ridlon at 262-388-0608 for details.
