Destination ImagiNation goes to state

When the regional Destination Imagination meet was canceled due to predictions of a winter storm last month, the DI statewide organization made an executive decision: they would send every team on to the state meet.

It can be difficult to describe Destination Imagination to a person who hasn't experienced it.

Some say the project-based academic challenges teach kids "how to think" - not what to think. Teachers like the way DI blends STEM education with the arts and social entrepreneurship. Many of the students like it because it's fun, although there's often a healthy dose of science and/or engineering involved, depending on which category the students choose to compete in.

Several teams from Cloquet schools, including Queen of Peace, traveled to the statewide competition last month.
