CARLTON news

The national Mayor's Day of Recognition for Volunteers was April 2 and Carlton Mayor Mike Soderstrom presented awards to Amy Decaigny, Lillian and Gordy Davis, and the Four Seasons Complex /Carlton Amateur Hockey Board for their volunteerism and dedication to the Carlton community. They have given their time and support to make Carlton and the surrounding area a great place to live. Congratulations to all of the honored volunteers.

We know that spring is just around the corner. The warm sunny days, nice walks on the Jay Cooke Park trails and family bike rides on the bike trails from Cloquet to N.P. Junction in Carlton and beyond will soon be here. Now is the time to take the bicycle out, dust it off and be ready to ride in the Carlton County Community Bike Ride on Sunday, June 9 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Volunteer coordinator Mandi Rosebrock is looking for citizens volunteers to help at the N.P. Junction in Carlton. Contact Rosebrock at the Extension office at 218-384-3511 to find out more.

There is also a need for more local organizations and community citizens to participate in this event. It is a collaboration between the United Way of Carlton County, the Community and Family Initiatives Department, Carlton County Public Health SHIP Coordinators and U of M Extension/Carlton County.
