Obituary: Albert "Pete" Willard White

Albert "Pete" W. White, 84, of Carlton, Minn. passed away Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at Inter-Faith Care Center.

He was born Aug. 10, 1934 in Cloquet, Minn. to Alfred and Edna (Larson) White and graduated from Cloquet High School. Pete served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany for 18 months. He was united in marriage to Marjorie Zimmerman on April 27, 1957 in Cloquet. Pete worked for 46 years for the Wood Conversion Co., the Conwed Corporation and USG Interiors. After his retirement, Pete worked at the Carlton recycling center for 10 years, where he had a coffee club called the Brown Socks.

Pete was a member of the J.M. Paine Memorial Presbyterian Church in Carlton and served on the session. He was a member of the Carl Anderson American Legion Post 262. Pete bowled for more than 50 years and played on five leagues at one time. He played horseshoes with a group in his yard for 40 years, and loved fishing, bowling, playing bocce ball and camping. He also enjoyed gardening, blueberry picking and campfires. He loved to tell jokes, and was great with puns. Whatever was thrown at him, he accepted it and never complained. When people asked him how he was, his reply was "I'm Al White," meaning "I'm all right."
