The Lumberjacks scored five runs in the third, sixth and seventh innings to cruise to the road win in Princeton. The ‘Jacks bashed out 15 hits, including a three-run home run by Kiana Bender and three hits from Olivia Diver.

In a matchup of two top-ranked Section 7AAA teams, the Wildcats were able to slow down the normally hot-hitting Lumberjacks to take the win in Princeton. Cloquet loaded the bases in the first inning, but were unable to push a run across and took a tough section loss in the process. Keegan Anderson had two of Cloquet’s five hits in the game.

Sarah Christy pitched the Rebels to an impressive road win over the Blue Devils, giving up only one earned run in her three innings of work. At the plate, the Rebels bashed out 10 hits against Virginia pitcher Ava Warren. Dallis Kukuk smacked a two-run single in the top of the seventh inning to secure the road win over the Blue Devils. Natalie Mikrot provided a three-hit game for the Rebels including a double, and Kukuk added a total of three RBIs. Rachel Christy and Ashley Grutkoski both had two hits for the Rebels, with one of Grutkoski’s hits being a double.

South Ridge-6 (8 innings)

Panthers pitcher Cecelia Olesiak went all eight innings on the mound, giving up two earned runs and fanning 11 LBF batters. Adelia Olesiak picked up two RBIs and Elizabeth McQuade added an RBI, as the Panthers won in Culver.

Rush City-3

The Eskomos won behind the strong pitching of Miranda Kelley, who gave up just two earned runs and seven hits while striking out eight Rush City batters. Dea DeLeon and Kristy DeMuth both had two hits and two RBIs. Kelley aided her own cause with a couple of hits and one RBI.

The Bulldogs went undefeated in Hayfield to capture first place at the Hayfield Tournament on Saturday. Abby Mickle picked up the pitching wins against both Kenyon and Mabel-Canton and twin sister Brynne Mickle tossed the win in the victory over New Richland. Abby Mickle also had a stellar day at the plate by going 8-for-10 on the day as well as smacking a pair of home runs, a couple of triples, two doubles and picking up 13 RBIs.

Abby Mickle gave up just one hit in taking the pitching win for the Bulldogs. Mendota Castonguay took the loss for the Bombers, giving up 13 hits in five innings of work against the tough Bulldog lineup. Castonguay struck out seven Bulldog batters in the loss. Taylor Nelson was impressive with a four-hit night for Carlton which included a pair of doubles, an RBI and two runs scored. Alena Wallin also had a big night with three hits including a double, two runs scored, a stolen base and an RBI. Mickle aided her own cause at the plate by picking up three RBIs.

Esko’s Miranda Kelley and Sarah Urban of Proctor hooked up in a pitchers’ duel with Urban taking the win — allowing just one hit in the process. Kelley gave up just four hits in the loss.

Moose Lake-Willow River-6 (9 innings)

The Rebels took extra innings but eventually scored a hard-fought victory over the Gobblers behind the pitching of Sarah Christy. Christy went six innings and did not allow an earned run, while giving up just one hit and striking out nine Aitkin players. Dallis Kukuk bashed out a triple and three hits for the winners. Rachel Christy had a pair of hits including two triples. Christy helped her own cause by going two for three with an RBI.

The Panthers took the Class AA Rails into extra innings, but came up just short in the loss.
