Wrenshall News

Anyone who has driven through our neck of the woods lately will know that the Wrenshall General Store has been continually improving and expanding its business.

“We have a lot going on here” said owner Jeff Bloom. He and his wife Elizabeth have been operating the general store since the fall of 2016. They have a storage facility,

online auction site and live bait for sale.

The latest addition also left them a bit of topsoil to sell. The couple has been building an above-ground facility to sell on-road and off-road diesel.

“If all goes according to plan we’re hoping to have the tank here by the first week of June,” Bloom said. This will be only the fourth place in Carlton County to offer off-road diesel and the owners hope that the unique offering will attract folks beyond just the Wrenshall community.

Today is Wrenshall’s graduation. There will be another important departure from the school this year, in addition to our seniors leaving. David Blinn is retiring after 38 years. The students and school board held special send-off sessions for Blinn this week.

In a post on the school’s Facebook page, the longtime science teacher shared his thanks for the support: “I have been amazed by the outpouring of kind words from so many of you, representing so many different years of my time at Wrenshall. The community has been very gracious with me and my family, and I am thankful for each of the 38 years I was able to be a participant in your school, your lives, and your experiences. Thank you all so very much.”
