Letter: Three strikes and you're out

Wrenshall residents have voted on school building referendums three times in two years and it comes at a financial as well as an emotional cost.

The current administration has caused division in our community. In this writer’s opinion, the cause is the agenda-driven superintendent.

We do not have the tax base to support their dreams. Currently we owe $1.2 million, debt payable in 2021. As part of the fiscally responsible majority, I would like to ask — as the Lorrie Morgan song says — “What part of no don’t you understand?”

I attended the school board meeting after the third defeat and there was talk of merging with Carlton. Merging with Carlton is beating the same old dead horse that’s been spoken of for 60 years. My question is, how does one take two failing school systems, merge them and expect success?

My advice to the school, for what it’s worth, is don’t try another referendum or spending $30,000 we don’t have or you will get another lesson in the agony of defeat. Pay off your current debt, quit hiring therapists … or perhaps the board and superintendent could use some therapy.
