The Esko boys track team triumphed in the 7A subsection meet May 23, coming in 44.5 points ahead of second-place Barnum, with 128.5 points to Barnum's 84. Moose Lake/Willow River took third with 81 points and Two Harbors took fourth.
On the girls side, Proctor took first (87)and Two Harbors came in second with 81 points. Esko placed third with 76 points, and Cromwell-Wright tied Duluth Marshall for fourth place with 72.
There were plenty of individual wins by Carlton County athletes, including the following:
Girls
•Barnum's Lexi Bonneville broke a school record in the discus and also won the shot put.
*Cromwell-Wright's Shaily Hakamaki won both the long and triple jumps.
•Barnum's Reese Miletich won the 100 meter dash.
•Cromwell-Wright's Anna Schoenberg won the 200 meter dash.
Boys
•Ben Hansen of Cromwell-Wright won the 400 meter run.
•Esko's Sam Rengo won the 800 meter run.
•Dylan Edland of Esko won the 300 hurdles.
•Esko's Aaron Moore, Dylan Edland, Elijah Blue and Luke Wagemaker won the 4x100 relay.
•The Cromwell-Wright team of Ben Hansen, Cameron Cahoon, Jaden Gronner and Cameron Dickey won the 4x200 meter relay.
•Esko's Dylan Edland, Sam Rengo, Luke Bourgeault won the 4x400 relay.
•Danny Lilya of Moose Lake/ Willow River won the men's wheelchair shot put and discus events.
•Aiden Litfin of Barnum won the high jump.
•Sam Goodwin of Barnum won the shot put.
•Esko's Gage Stankiewicz won the discus.
