An artifact display, slideshow and lecture on "Artifacts of the Fur Trade along the St. Louis River and Carlton County" will be presented by David H. Peterson, lecturer for the Minnesota State Park system, at the Carlton County Historical Society starting at 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 18. Peterson will look at the French, British, and American trading along the St. Louis River, Knife Portage (now Cloquet) and Carlton County from 1650 to 1850, when every major North American fur trade company and numerous independent traders worked in the area retrieving animal furs while trading iron axes and other trade items. Admission to the Historical Society is $3 for adults and chi8ldren age 12 and older. Free for members. The museum is handicapped-accessible. Call 879-1938 for further information.
