A hometown newspaper with a local office, local owners & lots of local news
A grand total of 27 teams with close to 130 people participated in the 21st annual Cloquet Chamber golf outing June 10. A variety of local businesses sponsored holes, including the Pine Knot News, which offered players a chance to play a different kind of golf: Skee Golf. Cameron Nelson, at right, was the only player to putt a golf ball into the most difficult hole in the top corner and earned $50 in Knot Notes for his prowess.
Cloquet Area Young Life held its first golf fundraising outing Monday, June 17 at the Cloquet Country Club. The sun fought its way through the clouds as an amazing turnout of 68 golfers participated in what they hope will become an annual event.
Young Life had two goals for this event: to share what they do in the community, and to raise funds toward the cause. According to director Brian Points, Young Life exists in the Cloquet area so that high school students have the opportunity to walk through the mess of life with caring adults, with trusted friends to help them make their way through life and spiritual life. A wide array of students participated in Young Life this past school year. In addition to Cloquet, Esko and Carlton, students also gathered from Moose Lake, Proctor and Duluth. Young Life welcomes all students in grades 9-12. To learn more, visit http://www.cloquetarea.younglife.org, or contact Points at 218-499-9135.
