A hometown newspaper with a local office, local owners & lots of local news
On Thursday, June 20 at approximately 5:45 a.m., the clerk at TJ’s Country Corner store in downtown Mahtowa arrived at work to discover that the building had been burglarized sometime since closing the night before. Carlton County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded. Some product was taken, along with some cash in a donation jar at the front desk and Mahtowa Fire Department raffle ticket stubs and cash that people donated toward the raffle.
It was the second burglary of a Carlton County hometown convenience store in less than a month, as a burglar broke into the B&B Market on Big Lake Road in Cloquet the night of May 27, causing damage to a door, and stealing numerous cartons of Marlboro cigarettes.
The case is under investigation and anyone with information about the TJ’s burglary is urged to call the Carlton County Sheriff’s Office 218-384-3236.
