The Cloquet City Council meeting for July 2 was canceled, so the next meeting — to be held at the new City Hall location at 101 14th Street — is scheduled for July 16.
Although the agenda for that meeting isn’t set yet, city administrator Aaron Reeves said the council will interview candidates who have applied to fill the Ward 3 seat vacated by Dakota Koski before that meeting. They plan to appoint one of those candidates to fill the seat for the remainder of the year during the July 16 meeting.
Ward 3 residents are encouraged to apply for the interim council position by July 10; after that date the application period will be closed. Ward 3 lies between Highway 33 and 14th Street, and Doddridge Avenue and the St. Louis River.
In other city news, the planning commission has a vacancy to fill the remainder of a term expiring at the end of this year with the potential of serving an additional three-year term. Letters or applications of interest can be submitted at Cloquet City Hall.
