A hometown newspaper with a local office, local owners & lots of local news
Dozens of runners and volunteers gathered to have fun and honor the late Cole Drechsler during the Cloquet Rotary Club’s annual Color Run Saturday, June 13. Their transformation from the start to the finish line rivaled caterpillars turning into butterflies. The Rotary Club, the local Junior Rotarian program and the Drechsler family worked hand-in-hand to create a colorful race that Cole would have loved.
“He provided lots of color,” Dawn Drechsler said in last week’s interview with Pine Knot News.
It was a humid day but that did not stop the enthusiastic crowd who came out to run, jog, or walk Pine Valley’s 2.5-kilometer loop. Much like Cole, the volunteers made sure the runners were draped in colors. When runners were not getting pelted with colored cornstarch they had the chance to participate in a silent auction, with all proceeds going toward a Cloquet Ed Foundation Scholarship in Drechsler’s name. Proceeds from the annual Color Run go toward helping the Rotary’s charitable efforts, including many different school and community activities and special causes.
