Kenneth Roy Tamillo, 87, of Cloquet, passed away peacefully in his sleep on July 22, 2019, at the VA hospital in St. Cloud.
Kenny was born Dec. 1, 1931, to Walter and Evelyn Tamillo in Cloquet, where he lived all his life.
After two years in the U.S. Marine Corps, where he learned the trade of welding, he returned to Cloquet and got a job at the Wood Conversion Company. He worked as a millwright, and later became the foreman of the welding shop. He left that job after many years, and opened his own shop, Ken's Welding, at his home on Eighth Street.
Kenny was a member of the American Legion Post 262. He enjoyed many peaceful afternoons at the fishing hole in Meadowlands with his longtime partner Phyllis Louze. He also loved spending time at the hunting shack at Hardwood Lake. He loved hunting, fishing, snowmobiling and spending time with family. Kenny frequented Park Lake resort for dinner, and was often found having coffee with friends.
Kenny was preceded in death by parents Evelyn and Walter Tamillo, brother Walter Jr., and longtime partner Phyllis Louze.
He is survived by sons Greg (wife Tracy and daughter Erin, Sauk Centre) and Guy, Meadowlands; sisters Irene Schiffler, Minneapolis, Mary Blair, Cave Junction, Oregon, Shirley Johnson, Cloquet, and Emma Rose Bishop, Twig.
Memorial service: 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, at the Cloquet VFW, 210 Arch Street in Cloquet. A light lunch will be served.
