A hometown newspaper with a local office, local owners & lots of local news
All kinds of organizations are partnering to get local residents to ‘Meet on the Street’ in downtown Cloquet 3-7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27. This free community event will temporarily close Cloquet Avenue from Eighth to 14th streets to vehicles and open the street to pedestrians. The event has an overall focus on physical activity, and healthy eating initiatives in the community.
Each block of Cloquet Avenue will have different activities related to healthy living. Some of the activities include local educational and informational booths, family activity opportunities (PiYo, pickleball, hula hoops, etc.), creative placemaking and artwork, entertainment, and a bike rodeo. The newly installed bike lanes and bumpouts along Cloquet Avenue will be highlighted, and community input will be collected to better support future healthy living changes.
The event is a collaboration between Carlton County Public Health and Human Services (through the Statewide Health Improvement Partnership), Fond du Lac Human Services, the City of Cloquet, United Way of Carlton County, the Cloquet Area Fire District, the Cloquet Chamber of Commerce, the Cloquet Community Education, the U of M Extension, and Community Memorial Hospital.
