Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College Thunder football placekicker and punter Michael Hall was named Special Teams Athlete of the Week in the Minnesota College Athletic Conference Eastern Division for games played Aug. 24 in Superior.
Hall was a perfect 4-for-4 on extra point attempts, and he added two field goals of 25 yards and 35 yards in the Thunder's 36-3 win over Minnesota State-Fergus Falls. He had seven kickoffs covering 324 yards for an average of 46.3 yards per kickoff, with two touchbacks that helped the Thunder control field position throughout the game.
Hall also had two punts during the game, averaging 36 yards per punt while dropping both punts inside the 20-yard line. Hall is in his first year with the Thunder and is a graduate of Westosha Central High School in Racine, Wisconsin.
Hall’s path to play for the FDLTCC Thunder football team is an interesting one. He is a military veteran, having served 2 ½ years in the U.S. Navy and completed two deployments to the Mediterranean region as part of Operation Enduring Freedom with stops in Kuwait, Iraq, Afghanistan and Turkey. Hall, at age 25, is in his second year of college football after transferring from Yuba College in Marysville, California, to come play for the Thunder. Hall is an art major at FDLTCC.
So far this season, the Thunder are 1-1.
In their first game, they defeated Minnesota State-Fergus Falls at NBC Stadium in Superior Aug. 24. On Saturday, Aug. 31, the Thunder lost 38-28 to the North Dakota State College of Science (NDSCS) Wildcats in Wahpeton, N.D.
