The communities of Cromwell-Wright School are invited to visit our school forest and the newly built learning pavilion on Tuesday, Oct. 1. Visitors are welcome to tour the grounds 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Cromwell-Wright school forest offers not only an outdoor learning space for our students, but also beautiful hiking trails available to the community. We are always looking for volunteers interested in helping maintain this important educational resource. Our next goals include harvesting some of the trees in the forest and burning some areas for regeneration. We also would like to see seating added to our learning pavilion. Contact Lori Wester or Missy Lind for more information.

There were only a few of us that attended the last Triad meeting at the Carlton County Transportation Building in Olsonville last week, but it was very informative. One of the deputies brought and demonstrated the drone that is available for search and rescue operations in the county. Since the drone is for commercial use, its operators need to be licensed to control it. Currently there are 15 certified drone pilots — including the Cromwell-Wright fire chief — who are licensed. The drone can also be used for photos above car crashes and in hostage situations, and it was recently used to locate a lost child. The next TRIAD meeting is Oct. 2.
