Long term care consultation expansion

During the 2011 special session of the Legislature a new initiative was adopted, requiring the Senior LinkAge Line and lead agencies in counties and tribes to expand access to long-term care consultation to those entering a “registered housing with service” setting.

Since 2011, all those interested in entering such settings, such as assisted living, must be offered long-term care consultation before signing a lease.

Individuals will be screened for risks, and those screened at high risk will be offered referrals to the county team that provides long-term care consultation assessments. An individuals will continue to choose their service provider and will have access to supportive planning for continued community living. For people who continue to transition to registered housing with services, additional resources for aging well and living well include access to caregiver supports and health insurance counseling.
