South Ridge exploded to score all 28 of their points in the second quarter against the visiting Tigers. Tarious Lovejoy started the scoring early in the second quarter on a 3-yard touchdown run. Riley Kinsley added a 13-yard dash for a score and Logan Young contributed a 10-yard touchdown run as well. At the end of the quarter Nick Larson caught a 16-yarder to wrap up the scoring. The win moves the Panthers to 5-1 and tied for first with Silver Bay in the District 9 Blue Division.
Ogilvie-16
Cromwell-Wright-8
Ogilvie got a pair of scores from quarterback Brady Harlan in each of the first two quarters and then hung on to defeat the Cards in Cromwell. The Tigers also converted on both of their conversion runs as they staked themselves out to a 16-0 halftime lead. Cromwell-Wright gave themselves a chance in the third when Taye Anderson nabbed a pass from Ethan Shelton, and took it 23 yards for a touchdown. On the two-pointer it was Anderson tossing a pass to Shelton final score of 16-8. Cromwell-Wright drops to 2-4 after the loss.
Carlton/Wrenshall-42
Onamia-0
The Raptors rolled to a 42-0 halftime lead before the game was called due to lack of players for Onamia. Isaiah Johnson got the Raptors on the board early on a 2-yard touchdown plunge followed by a Ryan Gray extra-point kick to make it 7-0. Before the first quarter ended, the Raptors got an 18-yard touchdown pass from Gray to Matt Santkuyl, another 11-yard pass for a score from Gray to Justin Swanson, a 70-yard touchdown romp from Kaden Crane and a 20-yard touchdown scamper from Swanson. Gray had four extra-point kicks in the first quarter. Kyle Sitler ended the scoring for the Raptors in the second quarter when he rambled in from 27 yards out and then Sitter caught a two-point conversion pass from Crane to end the scoring.
Moose Lake/Willow River-42
Mora-36 (OT)
The Rebels improved to 5-1 with the wild road win in overtime over the Mustangs. ML-WR took a first-quarter lead on a Brady Watrin 9-yard touchdown catch from quarterback Mason Olson, but the Mustangs answered on the ensuing kickoff when Andrew Rasmusson ran 80 yards on the return for a score which tied the game. Mora then scored on a Caleb Anderson to Rasmusson 38-yard touchdown pass, and with the two-point conversion led 14-6. Moose Lake-Willow River responded with back-to-back scores: the first coming on a Blake Juhl 3-yard touchdown run and the second on an Olson pass to Carter Johnson that covered 30 yards. Juhl also tacked on a two-point conversion after his 3-yard score and then Watrin made the extra-point kick after the pass to make it 22-14. After another Mora scoring run and a two-point conversion of their own, the Rebels got another pass from Olson to Watrin and Watrin added the conversion run pushing the score to 30-22 in favor of the Rebels.
The Mustangs weren’t done. They added a 12-yard touchdown run and another Nelson conversion run that tied the game at 30-30. Enter ML-WR. Olson hit Eli Warner on an 18-yard toss, but the Rebels were not able to convert the extra point, and held a 36-30 lead. Again, the Mustangs responded on a Nelson 2-yard touchdown plunge, but then the Rebels stopped their chance on the go-ahead conversion score and regulation ended up in a 36-36 tie.
In overtime the Rebels took the ball first and scored when Olson found Landin Kurhajetz open in the end zone for a 7-yard score, but again the Rebels missed the extra-point kick, giving the Mustangs a chance on their possession to score and win the game with an extra point. In a game that saw plenty of scoring and not a whole lot of defense, the Rebels finally got the stop they needed in overtime to preserve the victory over the previously unbeaten Mustangs in the Northeast Blue Division game.
Braham-58
Barnum-0
Braham stayed in a tie in the Northeast Silver Division with Rush City by dispatching Barnum 58-0 in Braham on Friday night. The win for Braham pushes their record to 5-1 on the season while the Barnum Bombers fall to the mirror opposite 1-5 this season.
Esko-22
Pine City-13
The Eskomos find themselves in a three-way tie for third place in the Northeast Blue Division with Crosby-Ironton and Aitkin following Friday’s home win over the Dragons. Dylan Vinje gave Esko the first lead of the game on a 1-yard run, but the two-point conversion run was stopped by the Dragons and Esko led 6-0. Pine City took the lead when Hunter Peacock scored from a yard out and they made the extra-point kick. Preston Lowe gave Esko the lead right back when he grabbed a Vinje pass and raced 55 yards for a score and then Vinje hit Trevor Spindler for the two-point conversion making it 14-7 for Esko. Pine City cut the gap to 14-13 when Konnor Jusczak hit Tanner Wictor on a 5-yard scoring strike, but the Dragons’ extra-point kick sailed wide, leaving Esko in the lead. Esko finally iced the game when Vinje scored on a quarterback keeper from a yard away, and then Vinje found Eli Blue in the end zone for the two-point conversion pass to end the scoring. The victory improved the Eskomos’ record to 4-2 on the season, and the loss drops the Dragons’ record to 2-4. Moose Lake-Willow River and Mora are tied for first in the division with identical 5-1 records.
