Come visit Cloquet's new apartment building

Cloquet’s newest apartment building is open and is inviting the community to visit. On Thursday, Oct. 24, the Cloquet Housing & Redevelopment Authority (HRA) will celebrate the grand opening of White Pine Apartments at 930 14th St. in Cloquet, with a 1:30 p.m. open house for the public, along with guided tours of select units, and refreshments while supplies last.

White Pine Apartments is Cloquet’s newest high-quality, affordable rental community, located just north of Aspen Arms on 14th Street. The building includes 35 units total, including six 1-bedroom, 26 2-bedroom, and three 3-bedroom apartments. All units are designated for households earning 30-60 percent of the county median income. Seven supportive apartments are for households that include a family member with a disability or a veteran.

Cloquet HRA executive director Debra Shaff called the apartments a real asset to the community.

“Finding affordable housing for our citizens that’s safe, sanitary, and decent has always been a challenge,” said Shaff. “This project is a symbol of hope and independence for people who are doing their best to get by, but may still be experiencing financial hardship, or are a veteran or someone with a disability. It’s a beautiful apartment community that they will be proud to call ‘home.’”
